retain folder settings
I'm using XP Pro, and none of my folders will retain their settings. I want them all set to details with a status bar, but they always revert to icons/no status bar practically the next time I open them.
- "Retain folder settings" is checked. I unchecked it then rechecked it, still aint working. - Tried EXPLORER /e,c:\ - doesn't seem to work for me. - I've used the "Reset All Folders" option in folder options many times - "Apply to All Folders" option is greyed out, wether I have the folder I want the settings applied from open or not. - "Restore previous folder windows at login" unchecked - Computer battery is still retaining my clock without error, so I assume it is okay. can anyone help? |

try this:
Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) Administrative Templates > Desktop > Change 'Don't Save Settings' from either 'not configured' or 'enabled' to 'disabled'. There are also some registry hacks that might work: {here's a little program that does one of them for you} http://tomsprograms.toms-world.org/W...derViewFix.php more: back up these two keys - then delete them... [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\BagMRU] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags] Nothing worked for me until I changed the Group Policy setting. |

Hi
I am using XP Home Edition and have the same problem as Eric. I prefer to have Windows Explorer to open in detail settings with the status bar. I have to set every folder that way each time I open one. Is there a way to keep this setting in XP Home? Thanks! Leslie |
