Disk partitions with Win2k Server and SATA Drives
Hey guys, I need a little help with this... Here's the situation. I built a server with a Asus P4C800 MB, with (2) Seagate 160Gb SATA drives. When I first started the system up I did not make the proper array and had my whole setup wrong but managed to run fdisk and format the drive. Now I have the disk setup as RAID 1 for mirroring but when I try to install the operating system I can't set any disk partitions. I've even deleted the existing partitions and tried to specify the size of the first partition but it won't let me type in a number value. It makes me use the entire disk and then after setup is compltete, my disk management utility won't let me make additional partitions either. Also, when using RAID 1, am I supposed to be using the SATA or PATA connections on the MB and what is the difference? The idea of this setup is to have the 160Gb drive partitioned into (4) drives and build a typical server. Any idea's here? Thanks guys.

Use fdisk to make the partitions. Or at least the first two. Once in windows you can delete the second and slipt it up.
