Question ~ outlook express problem

a while back i posted about my outlook express locking when switching identitys and not reappearing.

i also noticed a file that kept popping up on my desktop "~" and my deleting it made the lockup problem.

someone mentioned that it was outlook express putting it's backup folder in the wrong place because of a update error.

i am able to use my oe normally as long as i leave this file be.

is there an easy way to correct this file mislocation so my desktop doesn't show it?

i also noticed that it takes many seconds to make the switch when changing identities.

ideas??? thankx,ray.

p.s. otherwise, this bottom feeder emachine is working out very well.

Leave that "~" alone - it was put there by one of the Windows updates and it isn't hurting anything.

All the correct information you need about that ~ file on your desktop is on this page.

You can delete the file safely (I delete it without any problems on the computers I maintain) but as the site points out, the file is a backup of your address book so if you don't want to be without that backup, don't delete it. You can, however, move it back to the Outlook Express folder where it belongs if you prefer.

Since it's a bug in the Windows update 330994, you could uninstall that update but it does fix a vulnerability so I think it's best to leave that update installed.
