"high-speed usb device plugged into a non-hi-speed usb port"
get this error when i plug in certain usb 2.0 pieces of hardware to my machine. says something about needing a high speed usb host controller or something like that?
can anyone translate? |

Maybe you need to install the proper driver? I thought all those devices were to be backwards compatible.

well it works, but it says it will only work at usb 1.1 speed, not 2.0 speed.

They are backward compatible. What the warning says is your device is USB2.0 but your port is USB1.1. If your computer supports USB2.0 then you need to download the drivers. Mine were on a CD that came with my motherboard.

If it's a 1.1 port, though, I don't think you can make it go any faster without changing your USB hardware.

What you could also do is get a USB 2.0 PCI card and replace the USB 1.1. Install the new drivers for the USB 2.0 card and you will be back in business.
