Windows XP, checkdisk crazy trouble

Hello. I have been having trouble with booting up Windows. When I boot up the computer, every time it does check disk and says /pagefile.sys entry is a non-valid link, and then it runs through tons of files that scroll down the screen. I even left it on over night during this check and it still wasnt finished, or either locked up while doing so. I was wondering how I can get it to perfrom a successfull checkdisk, when I boot up. I can easily bypass this just by hitting a button, but its strongly recommended to finish it, so I just wanted to resolve this crazy conflict. Thanks and any replies are MUCH appreciated.

Try it with one ram module at a time.

Good troubleshooting idea. Since you really think its the RAM, I'll do so.

I'll let you know the status when i get home from work today.

Appreciate it buddy.

ok well heres my reply to what you said!!! so i tried it, and it still did the same thing.....but when i reinstalled all 3 ram modules back in, i put them in, in a different order, which shouldnt matter at all. Well, it did somehow, because when i turned my power button back on, i saw smoke and it smelled super bad. and now my 3,500 dollar alienware i bought 3 and a half years ago, whcich was handmade, is gone. the power wont even turn on anymore. only burn marks i found were on a ram module. thanks for the advice, but that broke my computer. not ur fault or anything, but im so pissed off, i used the computer everyday of my life and now i have no computer........

Had you unplugged the computer before switching the memory sticks or turned power off to the computer via the switch on the back of the power supply?
If you didn't,and you only turned power off via the front switch, power was still being fed to the motherboard and that can fry memory sticks.
It's possible the power supply failed, you may want to try testing the system with a new power supply.
You'll have to remove the motherboard from the case and set it up on a non conductive, static free work area.
Install one good memory stick, cpu and fan, video card and see if you can get it to post(see tips and tricks for procedure)
If you can get it to post, not all is lost.
