Default login username?
I am running Windows XP Home on my computer, and I am using the classic login option (i.e. the login dialog box instead of the list of users). At the minute it's a bit pointless though, I had changed from the welcome screen, so that people would have to enter the username before the password (I only have one user account on it, its my laptop). Is there any way to disable windows showing a username by default?

If I understand correctly, the best thing is to enable the welcome screen again - no logon required and Windows starts up ready to go.
Go to control panel/user accounts and click 'change the way users log on or off'. HTH |

I was looking to have it that when you load up, that no one knows what the username is? Instead of it showing the last user who logged in's name.

Recently solved the log in with a user name problem on a machine I was servcing. Customer only used one name and wanted to boot to the Start page without any logon. This is with XP. When you look in the Users category of Control Panel you may find a Guest account that is turned off (ignore it) and a second account called APIC/Limited Use (or something similar). Deleting that APIC account allows a direct boot without displaying any user names. Think you also need to select the Welcome screen option. Welcome will be displayed briefly during the boot up.
