No Sound (1st build...little knowledge)
Hello, This is my first shot at building. I got everything together and running, except there is no sound! I do get the POST beep! Its a Soyo Kt600 Dragon plus V1.0 mobo, with onboard 6channel sound. I'm runnig Windows XP pro. The drivers that came on the mobo cd can,t be loaded by Windows. I got updated driver from Soyo web side...same results. Is there a way to find out if something else is wrong.
Thanks |

Welcome to PCMech. Are you saying the sound driver is not loading properly? What are you trying, and what's it saying? Have you enabled your onboard sound in the BIOS?

No sound
After trying to load driver-"via onboard audio driver"- from mobo cd, I look in device manager and see the "!" by Multimedia Audio Controller. I go to properties and try to re-install drivers. The Hardware Update Wizard asks for the cd and tries to load what it calls "vinyl AC'97 Codec Combo Driver(WDM). The wizard ends with "Cannot install this hardware. An error ocurred during the instalation of this device. The data was invalid."

If you haven't tried it, remove that problem device while in device mgr, and then reboot to let it reinstall. Maybe it will take the drivers at that time? If not, someone with a bit more knowledge will have to get you going in the right direction. Good luck.

Hi there
on my board (not same) but also with six channel surround if I am not using the front speakers (which I don't have) I have to enable sound in the bios for the rear ports only, if you have the MB manual go over the advanced chipset features in the bios section there'll be something you've missed during setup. Thanks Kov-Ice and hasmudge, I'm gonna check both of these avenues in a little bit. I'll post my results.

Hello, I tried both of your suggestions. Still no sound. I e-mailed Soyo tech support, but I've got to wait two business days for a reply!?!? Well anyway thank you guys
