Swap File usage
Hey All,
From what I have been reading, the swap file is only used when there is no RAM left to be used. Yet, I find my swap file being used even if I have a lot of RAM left over..Why's this? TIA. |

WinXP will use the swap file even when there's physical memory (RAM) available, although I'm not real sure why. I know with Win98 you could set it up so that it would use the swap file only after all the physical RAM was used up, but I don't know if you can do that with WinXP. Might be just the way the NT kernal works.

NT/2000/XP all use the swapfile as a temporary store for such things that us mere mortals are not even allowed to speak the name of.
