Hi,
I wanted to make a folder with its subfolders hidden & unaccessible for other users, but now there are files in 2 subfolders that I can't open anymore, all the other files are still accessible. The folders are located on a non-OS partition, so that's the reason "System Restore" didn't work I think. Is there a way to undo all these changes ? |

Right mouse click on the subfolder - properties - share tab - and click on the permissions button. Add "Everyone" to the folder and allow full control. Then go back, click on the security tab, add "Everyone" and allow full control. Oh yeah, and delete any other users you had on both Permissions and Security so you the permissions won't conflict.
Good luck. |

I removed all other users, but I think the settings in "Advanced security settings" are wrong.
I will give you some screenshots of the security settings of the main folder I wanted to secure. |

Okay, under "Effective Permissions" for the Administrator (you) put a checkmark in the full control box.

To check the full control box I first had to fill in the group or user name, after I did that the boxes were checked but they are still gray and when after confirming I go back to "Effective permissions" nothing has changed and still can't access my files in some of the subfolders
