Is there any process to shorten the shutdown time in Windows XP? Like turning off the system restore option?

Pull out the plug from the back... I'm only kidding. It shouldn't take more than 10 seconds to shut down. How long is it taking you?

Are you connected to a network? I've heard of slow shut downs while the computer was disconnecting network drives and such. Also shut down unnecessary services. They can sometimes take time to exit and will lengthen shut down time.
You could also try not clearing your page file, just in case it is being cleared, by going to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management and change the value of ClearPageFileAtShutdown to 0. Close and restart. Good Luck! |
