How can I set all disks to be defragged in XP pro's defraggmenter? It only looks like I can select one at a time. I just want to set it to defrag all my partitions and then just leave the PC alone.

force_flow2002,
If I'm not mistaken, that is simply one of the limitations of the program itself...not being able to defragment more than one volume at a time. It is based on DiskKeeper by Executive Software International, Inc. http://www.executive.com/coverpage.asp -LW |

The XP Pro defragger can only work on one disk at a time. I tested Diskkeeper and it can defrag more than one drive at a time. Plus you can also schedule it. However, the price doesn't justify the extra features IMHO since the XP defrags the drive as good as Diskkeeper.

Thanks guys, I found a workaround. Since I have a multiboot, I'm going to use 98SE's defragger, which has the option of defragging all disks.

Just to be safe, are all your drives in FAT? and not NTFS? -- but ya, that sure is a pain not being able to just click on defrag and have it take care of all the drives...

You could defrag multiple volumes using batch file.
here's a decent "how to" for XPl: http://www.dslwebserver.com/main/fr_...-multiple.html |

you are welcome.
The web page indicates there is no command line version for defrag in win98 etc.... but that's not true. good luck |
