Popups

Hey guys,

My friend has a huge problem with popups. He says he thinks its from his old version of kazaa. Anyway, when he leaves his computer for school; he'll return to have about 54 popups on his desktop. I got him google popup blocker for websites, but popups still get through.

Anyone know what to do?

Are they the windows messanger pop ups (gray ones)?

Tell him to check for spyware

LavaSoft

Spybot S&D

If it is the windows messanger pop us he is getting... he is how to shut it off.

Stop windows messanger

I hope this helps!

Get rid of Kazaa.
Destroy all Spyware found
Clean Registry
Download Kazaa Lite
Download yourself a pop up blocker, but those usually give you spyware, so get like Mozilla which has a pop up blocker built right into the browser and it's stable.

The Google toolbar has a popup blocker, and if you install it in the BASIC mode it has zero spyware. You also may want to go to housecall.trendmicro.com and scan for viruses.

Did you update both Spybot and Ad-Aware before running them? The basic downloads both have very old reference files.
