Windows XP errors

I need some help. I am having the same problem as mentioned abovE. A friend has offered to let me use her computer to slave my hard-drive so I can get the files I need off the crashed drive. She is running Windows XP. What is the easiest way to slave the drive? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Put the jumper in the slave position on the hard drive and connect it to the computer. It should be recognized and you should have no problem. BTW, shouldn't this be under the Windows XP forum?

Hi iraethan

Posts tend to move about a bit during the week, so when posting a problem that refers to another thread, it's easier for us to follow if you use the other thread's "title". (At the moment, your thread is at the top of the list, so I can't reference "the same problem as mentioned above")

So - I don't know what's caused your crash - nor what operating system you usually run. Hi Ho gave you the answer for slaving the drive [remove it from the crashed computer, shutdown and power off your friend's computer, jumper the problem drive to either "slave" (if she is jumpering her drives Master/Slave) or "cable select" (if 'cable select', attach the problem drive to the middle connector of the three on the cable)] Run a complete virus/spyware scan on the drive before you attempt to copy any files.

You should check that the drive is recognized in the bios too. Usually the "del" key continually tapped immediately after the pc is started will get you to the bios.
