fqpissed Windows 98, ptqn.exe problem??

I have a PC running Windows 98 SE. A few days ago I began having problems getting applications to run. Every time I try to start any applications I get a warning box that the PC is missing ptqn.exe, and this file needs to be replaced in order to run any applications. I have no idea what this is about, or how to resolve it. The computer boots up fine and everything else seems to work, except that I cannot start any programs because it's missing ptqn.exe. I tried to find this file on the original Windowns 98 CD, and did not see it.

Does anyone one know what this is all about, and how to resolve the issue? I'm to the point of just Fdisk-ing the computer and starting all over.

Could this be virus related?

Any help would be appreciated.

You HAD a virus and your AV has quarantined it, but left some junk behind in the registry.

Scroll to the bottom of this page and download Fix-Exec.inf. Then, select the file, right mouse install.

And, if you were NOT aware that you had a virus, go into your AV program's options, and change any "automatic" ones to "ask me first".
You will ultimately allow the AV to try and remove the virus, but this way you will at least know what is going on!
