I am considering using my 16:9 HDTV as my monitor. What I'm concerned is that the display in my HDTV will look distorted. How do I compensate for this? Is there a setting in Windows XP Pro to adjust so when displaying on at 16:9 monitor or HDTV the desktop will look normal and not distorted?

Have you hooked it up to see if "is" distorted?

No, but I would assumed so since there is no option that I know of in Windows XP. I know that Wincows Media Center 2004 support 16:9 but that version is only available for PCs that are built for it. I want to know if it is possible to use a 16:9 HDTV as a monitor and will the picture look distorted before I actually go out and buy the proper equipment. I'm considering an ATI RADEON 9000 video card since it support a 16:9 resolution; however, I'm not sure if this is enough to have Windows XP work with a widescreen HDTV.
Your suggestion is appreciated. ljCharlie |

Widescreen is just a matter of the resolution. Windows does not have to support it. If your graphics driver does, then you will be able to use the resolution. My card does have 16:9 resolutions.
That's for normal PC monitors, dunno if it works with TVs. RJ

I am guessing that RJ might be right on this although I'm not sure yet. I read a couple of adds on different video cards and it seemed that if the driver of that video card support it then it works. The problem is I don't want to spend all the money then found out it doesn't work. So that is why I want to really make sure it works first before spending the $$. I have a 16:9 HDTV with a DVI port in the back.
Many thanks for all your input. ljCharlie |
