loading recovery disks

I have tried to reload HP recovery system disks using the disks I made when I got the new pc, also had HP send me recovery disks for this model, Pavilion 746c, only to get the same results. these System Recovery CD's do not support this HP pc model. I have tried everything I could find in MS and at HP. same results.. anything new would be great. thx in advance.

You should be able to set your BIOS to boot first from CDROM and boot with the recovery disk in. The disk must be the correct on for your model though. Worst case scenario you can get XP home and do a clean install.

thx, most of what i have done is as follows: have tried booting from bios, making cd priority boot, have made a 98EBD, have downloaded and tried winxpsp1 disks, have switched cd's devices, i may have tried a couple other things to like installing dos6.22 and win98se with no problems, other than win98se cant find drivers for most of my hardware..lol, and tried to boot the hp recovery disk1 on top of win98se.. I have looked at the dir or the 1st recovery cd and dont see anything in there that will allow me to do anything but boot it. thx, and hope this narrows down my search for help.. my head is sore and my eyes are burning..lol
