System Restore Files

I know this has probably come up before.....If you are running system restore in XP, and then you turn it off, are all the restore files deleted or still on the drive. If they are, where exactly are they located?

TIA

I just looked in my system restore and couldn't find it, but I'm sure I read somewhere that if you turn it off, all the restore files are deleted and put back into available disk space. If you turn it back on, it will start to build restore points again.

That's what I thought, but I just wanted to make sure. What else would be stored in the "reserved system space"? My Page file is on a seperate drive, system restore is off, what else is this used for?

Reserved system space is the MFT (master file table).
