installed sp1, but not sure if i did it right

hey guys

i bought a burned copy of sp1 from a local cd store last week, but couldn't find the file (xpsp1.exe) anywhere on the disc that, according to this microsoft html "read-me" on the cd, is the installer application. couldn't find an "xpsp1a.exe" on the disc either.

per someone's advice, i ordered that free cd from microsoft, but got impatient & started looking thru the burned cd again.

one guy posted & said that i should uncheck the folder option in "my computer" that prevents one from seeing file extensions. i did that, but still couldn't find or run that file.
(thank you for the replies, by the way.)

this one file that was present, "xpsp1a_en_x86.exe" started up an install wizard and, as far as i know, successfully installed the sp. when i go into "properties" under "my computer", sp1 shows up there on the listing with win xp.

did i do this right? i'm uneasy because of having installed sp1 with this setup application that had a different filename than the one originally indicated.

thank you!

Right click on "my computer" > properties > on the general tab it will tell you if SP1 is installed or not

You can go though the control panel as well; it's the "system properties" icon

Yes, you did it right. The extra stuff just means it's English for x86 processors.
