Rundll32.exe error when restart XP
I have just installed a wireless network with adsl router and now when i restart my pc i get an error message rundll32.exe not responding.
I also plugged my scanner back in and got an error message %systemroot%\system32\dumprep o-k as a program on start up - my watch dog highlighted it and i clicked No that i did not want it to be added to my start up programs Also when i log onto my user name with my personal settings it takes ages to load them all. Any advice on how to resolve these please? |

Did you add a network card or did you have an integrated NIC?
You don't see rundll32 errors in XP all that much unless something else is wrong with another service/program. I would do a virus check just in case with an up to date virus scanner. It sounds like you can still boot into the GUI. Any other problems? Does everything work fine? Any problems in your device manager? |

I checked in device manager and the scanner has a conflict with the device driver. I had not uninstalled the scanner but disconnected it while i was fitting the network card (wireless) then when i plugged it back in windows detected new hardware. The problem occurs when i install the psidfw.usb file to install the driver on request and then i get the blue screen of death with the stop error message 0x00000007E
When i send the error report to microsoft it says the device driver caused the pc to crash. Is it best to uninstall the scanner and then reinstall it or download the latest driver from packard bell - it is a packard bell 1200 diamond plus scanner? There are no other major problems apart from my GUI is slow to open up - i have loads of applications running in the background after checking. |
