The first problem I notice when the connection link that was suppose to be at the start menu> Connect to > (my connection) was missing. I made accounts, but it does not show up. When I made the same connection again, with the same name the connection wizzard said the connection is present, but I could not find it.
I had to make a desktop icon, the desktop icon remained but not in the start menu. (I don't like lots of icons on the desktop). Now when I go online, there should be a connections status(when you log in to th internet) that tells that you are log in. But for me, I get the "local area network" which is the same icon, but does not have the ability to dissconnect from the internet. It has disable. When I disable that the whole line gets dissable, even though connected to the internet. As of now, I don't know how to dissconnect properly, just restart the pc. I already tried clicking the icon, & it suppose to be saying that my online status, but what I get is a normal window before you log on the internet. Even if I do log on, its already log on to the internet. Second: I notice that I get lots of attacks(sygate firewall), & sometimes same IP within 3 minutes. Third: notice today that my clock/time at the start bar(bottom right) is faster than normal. I notice it around 7.50pm(the real time). The clock said 8.15pm. I updated the clock, it wsa back to normal. I check the pc at 10pm. The time is suppose to be 9.54, but the clock in xp said 10.04. It seems to be faster than usual. What is worng with my pc? Help ![]() I have done Adware & Spybot S&D, nothing. McAfee virus scan also nothing came out. Firewall is always on. Thanks

you sure got something acting weared, one thing you might try is to do a system restore to a point of time that it was last known to be working good, and see how it permforms then.

Good point, but I don't know which is a good restore point. After 3 hours, the clock is quick by 5 minutes.
Maybe clean install? But I just did that 2 months ago. Too early for that? What is a logical drive? My logical drive is not my system hd, but another hd. Is this ok? I have 3 hd. 120+120+80gb |

Think you revealed the magic word when you said "McAfee"! I had a similar problem with an older 98se system a few years ago. I downloaded the McAfee AV upgrade and later that night my entire system was running very slow. The clock was off by a bunch (slow). Shut it down for the night and next morning it wouldn't even boot. Ended up reformatting the hdd. Did you recently download any McAfee updates? or does your AV automatically update itself? I'd Remove the McAfee entirely and use AVG instead. If you want to put it back on, that's your choice, but I would uninstall it for now and see if it corrects your problem. If you use the XP uninstall, do a search after for leftover McAfee stuff and be sure to delete them too.

Try running Housecall or Trend Micro System Clean. Mcafee isn't too good in my opinion.

McAfee Virus scan professional v7.03.6000.
Created on 4/6/2004. It auto updates itself. I don't know any AV software that speeds up time. Woke up, 8.05am, xp says 8.15am. The clock is moving at a faster speed. Last edited by mystvearn; 04-07-2004 at 07:06 PM. |

I just opened outlook, & get lots of mailerdeamon from I don't know who. Some emails got weird numbers & letters I don't understand. One of the emails said I tried to send attachment of a virus W32/Netsky.B@mm
The firewall did not pick it up. Maybe I'll change my AV to NW 2004 I don't get it. The email says I have that virus, run housecall, Norton AV04, nothing turned up. But I'm receiving lots of emails,(mailerdeamon) seems like Outlook is sending lots of emails.

That's part of Norton, it has to be allowed in order to do a live update.
