Outlook/Outlook Express
Are the .dbx files compatible between Outlook and a Outlook express. Are they also compatible between win xp home and win xp pro.
I jut burned a copy from a (win xp pro) of a self made .dbx (murday.dbx) file and and copied it into a version of outlook express on a win xp home machine. The xp home machine dies not even identify it let alone allow me to read it. Please enlighten me on the ins and outs of the .dbx files?

I prolly should have mentioned that the .dbx files are taken from a HDD that i slaved to a serviceable computer. The original computer had a major motherboard break down and could not boot up.
I plan to restore the email files when the new mob, cpu ram and win xp home arrive in the morning. If someone can tell me a better way to do this, go for it!! |

TEEB,
The DBX files used in Outlook Express are not compatible with Outlook... As for working with the DBX files in OE, here's a link to a good guide for doing so: http://www.iopus.com/guides/oe-backup.htm If you run into problems with importing the files, there is a free utility called DBXtract that can be found here: http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/Default.aspx If you have any other questions, I'll try to help. Good luck! -LW |
