No msconfig
I'm working on my friend's laptop.
It runs very slow and the mouse stalls out from time to time. I suspect something wrong in a startup file. however, when i try to pull up msconfig, it will pop up for a second and disappear. he's running winMe... anyone seen this before? I also can't get norton to run, or get online. |

I had that a while back on an ME machine. I don't know if what I did will work for you or not but here's what I did. Used Ctrl Alt Del to see what was running and shut down all the unnecessary/unwanted stuff. Then I tried msconfig. Worked then. One other time I had to run it in Safe Mode to access the start programs. BTW, here's a good site to ID the stuff that's running and help you decide whether to let it run or not let it start up.

or try:
http://www.answersthatwork.com/Taskl...s/tasklist.htm to look at the running tasks. I find it easier to use than PR's suggestion. Good Luck.

I had a similar problem on a pc i was working on about a month ago, had to open msconfig in safe mode. Turns out it was a virus (it was in msconfig as "ccApp32.exe") Not to be confused with Norton which is only ccApp.exe. Trend Micro identifies it as AGOBOT.UZ
Hope this helps
