Angry Fire Screen saver lockout for 98

I would like to lock the screen saver on a 98 system so that once set it can not be changed again. Anyone know of the exact registry key I need to set and what it needs to be set to?

Thanks
Gene

I think to do this, you'd probably need to use User Profiles, then set the Users to be unable to make interface changes.

As you can probably tell, I haven't had to do this in a Win98 setup, so I'm just giving you a general idea [since I'm quite foggy on it]

One of the techs who've used Win98 in a large office network might be able to help us. . .

hi genec hi gary an option i used once was to search the hard drive for all file ending in .scr then move all but the screan saver you want in to a zip file in the same folder or change the .scr to .old on every file except the one you want to use

Hi again fellas

Thanks andy for the zip/rename info!

And GeneC, if you decide you want to completely lock out any such changes (so that the users can't bring a new screensaver in on a disk & install it, for example) here's a link to the TechNet/TechRepublic tutorial for User Profiles from their Windows 98 Archive http://www.microsoft.com/technet/archive/default.mspx

From that link, go down the menu to Windows 98 / Tips / "Windows 98: Protecting Users From Themselves"

[The title of the article rather gives away it's origin from the I.T. side of life ] . . . after a screen or two of introductory chatter, it gets to the details of User Profiles.

Thanks guys. So far I've just used the zip rename trick, should have thought of that one myself. DOH!
