Can I uninstall Novell?
Ok my dad brought home an old laptop from work and said I can use it if I want because they were going to throw it out. It's pretty old but has 98se and I can use it for typing and msn and stuff. However it has Novell client on it and I can't find a way to remove it.. is that possible? Also, I am wondering how to get into the bios setup for a laptop, I haven't done this before.
thanks guys!

My daughter has to run Novell at college to be on their network. I uninstalled it all last year when she came home for the summer so she could use it here, then they reinstalled it at school when she went back last fall. She'll be home again in a couple weeks and I'm wiping it again. Should just uninstall like any program. Just make sure to do a search after for any Novell stuff that doesn;t go away with the uninstall.
What brand is the laptop? Some use Del to access the bios, others use a particular function key. |

Not sure about uninstalling Novell because I don't have experience with it.
What type of laptop is it? My guess is to either hold don [F1] or [DEL] on boot to get into the BIOS. If you can actually get into Windows, you may be able to search the Help files to see if it has any information in there. [EDIT] There's you're answer on Novell then. Guess I'm too slow at 10:00AM .

a) It's a Toshiba
b) There is no entry for Novell in the add/remove programs. I would have tried that

Try this for bios access:
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/t...WEIGHT&awhit=2 Just do a search for "Novell" and delete all entries. If you send them to the recycle bin and you have a problem, you should be able to put them back in place. |

Hi all -
If all you want to remove is the Novell client, go to the Control Panel's "Network" applet. In the "Configuration" tab, you should see the Novell Client listed in the box (probably you'll see "Client for Microsoft Networks" in there too). If you left-click on the Novell Client to select it, you can then left-click on the Remove button. That should do it. Unless it has a bothersome logon box, it won't hurt to leave the Novell Client on the notebook. . . . Gary [. . . and hope you all had a Happy Easter! I've just had a wonderful week visiting family . . . ] |
