Windows Installer
Whenever I try to install a program that uses the windows installer program, I get a message that says: Setup failed to run installation: Catastrophic Failure... now those last to words make me nervous, but this is troubling me since I have to use my broken modem to make this post. I am trying to install drivers for my modem, but it doesnt just happen with the modem drivers, but with any program. I use Windows XP

Is it windows XP? If it is go in my computer, right click on C:, go to propreties>tools tab and you will have the option to scan disk. It will give you a message box, press yes and it will run on the next startup.
EDIT darn, got beat to it

im gonna try the check disk as soon as I reboot. This problem happened a while ago (maybe a year or more), but it only happened on one game. System restore would probably be too complicated since it happened so long ago.
EDIT just scandisked... didnt work, I still have the same problem Last edited by Nelreem; 04-10-2004 at 07:15 PM. |

OK nelreem its time to get some moor info from you first right click the my computer icon select properties and tell me the windows version you have IE xp home sp1 version 2002
next how much free hard drive space you have and how much ram then try and install a program and give me the exact error message after that click start then run and type msconfig hit enter on the first screen select selective startup and remove the tick from load startup items hit apply and reboot the computer when windows restarts try to install a program again post back with the results |
