Nothing Works After A While

First off heres some specs:

Windows ME
Athlon 1.1GHz CPU
384MB RAM
Radeon 9000 64MB Video Card

Heres the problem:

When I turn the computer on and say I go play a game or something, about 20-30 minutes later I come back and try to open a program but it doesnt work. If I try something ese, it doesn't work either. Thing only things that work is a program thats already running. When I try to open a program, I double click it, nothing works or pops up. I even tried going through the start menu but that didn't work either.

Any solutions?

You just have to restart.
This happens to me after I play a game in full screen mode that has a resoltion lower than the one in windows for a long time. Lets say I have windows set to 1024 by 768 but I have Unreal Tournament2k4 set to 800 by 600.
This happens in all Windows OS that I've used. You could try changing your resolutions so that there the same.
