Spontaneous power ON win98

I have a Hp vectra vl, win98, 6Gb Hd, 128Ram. I go through normal shutdown, everything seems ok. the next morning (or sometime later) the machine has powered up on it's own, not running any program, just sitting on the desktop. I've checked power mgnmt and task scheduler but can't seem to find the culprit. need help,Thanks

Send a message via ICQ to RJ
Check that automatic power up is not set in BIOS.

My friend had the same thing, her Bios was set to boot at midnight.
check through your bios to see if you have an automatic power on set.

Hi Bobcat,

The other reasons could be a weak CMOS battery and/or PSU starting to weaken.
