Changing the mobo.
![]() Now, seriously, you can't. That is the device listing and it is normal for the machine to do it.

Because it's old, precisely. It doesn't have as many devices to list and/or, its BIOS is not programmed to do it.
What are the specs of the auld system? |

. . . like Nuke mentions, the answer is in the Bios. Your old computer may have displayed a "splash screen" instead [perhaps with the manufacturer's logo -- Hp, Compaq, Dell, IBM, Gateway, whatever...]. If you really don't want to see the Bios's POST screen (the memory tests and the device lists), enter the Bios Setup for your computer by pressing the key in the startup banner "Press F1 (or DEL, or F10, etc) to Enter Setup". Then hunt around for a menu item that mentions the splash screen. (it might mention "show POST messages", or "enable Logo startup display", or something like that)
The tech-minded like to see those POST screens, since they can help with some troubleshooting. . . . Gary [p.s. --- POST stands for "Power On Self Test"] |

How old is the old computer ? Even my Pentium 133 had it.
Every computer with PCI slots will display that. Either your old computer is a propietary one that displays a full screen logo or whatever to hide it, or it is so old that it doesn't have PCI slots (like old 486 and older). RJ

Old ? You call that old ?
I imagined a pre-Pentium II computer when you said "old" computer. . .Well, a laptop is different. The boot screens are different. Though I don't own one I've seen my friends laptops, and the ones at school. I guess it is because they are more propietary. RJ |

Dells do not display that information on POST, doesn't matter whether it's a laptop or a desktop. If you don't want to see it on your new box, enable "silent boot" in your bios.
