Repair of XP

Sign on problems starting 4 days ago. The computer hangs up at " Windows is starting up ". From the XP Home screen, a message flashes quickly then disappears. To stop the hanging, after 5 minutes, I use reset. After 3-4 resets, the message stays. It says " Unable to log on because of an account restriction. After clicking " okay" it goes to the user sign on screen. I have the administrator the same as the user, with no passwords. After I finally get signed on, I run Norton ( no problem) then Spybot and AdAware to clean up. I check the event log, and error 529 says someone is trying to sign on. My router and Norton Security check say I am pretty secure. Finally, I decide to do a " repair " of XP. The repair asks for administrator password. I used no password during installation so I click Enter But when I click "enter " it won't let me in. How do I do a repair?

you really should use a password for the adminstrator and set up a user account for yourself, and use the user account all the time unless you need to make any system changes,
when useining the ntfs xp has many security features and setting so that the system is protected, you really should take full advantage of to to prevent this kind of problem.

Hi Bailey, well, I found out why the repair function needed an adninistrator password. I went to the MS site and checked " repair" and it clearly said NOT to use the recovery console, and that is what I used. I will go back and try to do the repair function correctly. I did not use NTSF since I had dual boot with Win 98, Not I got rid of the Win 98 since Win XP IS better. But I had formatted in FAT 32 since I wanted to read from XP files back into Win 98. I will do a repair function, and report if a problem or not.
Thanks

Well, I had used the " R " for recovery, not the R for repair. I have it repaired and all is well ( so far) One of these times perhaps I will learn how to use XP as well as I had Win 98. I refused XP for a long time, then set up a dual boot, and had Win 98 as a crutch. After a while, I never booted into Win 98, so I deleted it. Now I still get in trouble with XP. Thanks for your help
