Won't save passwords
I am helping a friend with his computer over messenger and he can't get it to save his login passwords for web sites.
Windows XP IE 6 Have already made sure "prompt to save passwords" is checked and it will ask him, but it won't save it. Any ideas?

Got it fixed!
For those that might need it later: Go to Start, then Run and type Regedt32 and hit enter. Click the + beside HKEY_CURRENT_USER, then scroll to and click + by Software, then Microsoft, then find"Protected Storage System Provider", right click on it and go down to Export, left click it, type regbk as the name and click save (this will backup the file in case we need it), then right click on Protected Storage System Provider and go down to delete and left click it. A message will pop up telling you Registry Editor will delete the selected key and ask if you want to continue. Click yes to finish, then click the X at the top to close regedt32. Open Internet Explorer and try it, you will have to type the login name and password the first time for every site. Close it all out, then try again and see if it kept it this time. This fix is for Outlook and Outlook Express, but works for IE also. |
