Scratchy sound when playing Unreal Tournament
My system went down due to a virus so I decided to reformat my drive and install " Xp " instead of " (98SE) ".
There was no change in the hardware, the drive was formatted as an NTFS drive. I used the drivers that came with XP for my Creative Live 5.1 card. After the scratchy sound started I updated the dirivers with new ones I found at Creative's site. The devices look fine in the Device manager section. The sound was fine when I was using 98SE. Anyone have a solution for this problem? specs .... PIII 1.0ghz, 512 Sdram, geforce 2 32 Meg, Asus CUSL2 motherboard. |

Is the sound just when playing unreal? or with other games to? sometimes the soundcard can pick up interference from the cd drive and make thoose kind of noises. I'm not exactly sure how to fix it though.

The sound will work once in awhile, I don't believe it has anything to do with the CD or I would have experienced the same problem when I was using 98SE.
Thanks for you suggestion though. |

Maybe it is your hard drive?

In UnReal Tournament Settings, what's the audio set to. Think I had to set mine to "H/W 3D Audio" to cure a simular problem.
