Download Darik's Boot and Nuke. It'll install to a floppy. Use it to boot, and it can totally wipe any partition you chose. (but be careful not to wipe the wrong one).

Here's AnandTech's guide to removing an OS from a dual-boot: http://www.anandtech.com/guides/viewfaq.html?i=109
Note that boot.ini will reside on the primary partition, so that if Win98 is on the primary partition (likely) - if you reformat that partition you'll lose your copy of boot.ini (and your system will not boot, but display an error message). In this case, you'd boot from the XP CD, and perform a repair install. That should get everything going again. . . . Gary |

oh...if you're trying to get rid of the boot loader/dual boot, you can just boot from the XP disk, press 'r' for recovery (or repair, i don't remember) and type the command "fixmbr" so that your master boot loader will only be for XP.
