problems reading udf cds in Windows 2000 Pro

Hello all,
I am new to this group. I just upgraded from Windows 98 SE to Wondows 2000 Pro. My computer is a Compaq Presario with AMD aflon processor at 500 MH. After the upgrade, I could not access ufd cds made with CEQuadrat Packet CD which came with my computer. After installing all the service packs, I could access the udf cds, but read only some of the files. In desperation, I tried installing Apaptec udf reader v5.1.1.123. After rebooting, I tried accessing my udf cds. When I would double-click on the drive the computer would reboot instead of reading the disc. When I try using CEQuadrat to make a data disc or audio cd, I get an error message saying no SCSI host adapter found, so I basically abandoned the program. As far as CEQuadrat Packet CD, the program will not even open. The other annoying thing so far is that my internet download speed from alt. binaries is very slow in that a lot of time passes between downloading each segment. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
pianotech

Upgrading over the top is not always successful, especially if you did not read and heed the upgrade report that it prepared for you prior to doing the actual upgrade. There are usually various software items that must be uninstalled prior to upgrading, and need to be reinstalled after the upgrade - and some items that will not be compatible with 2000 and must be uninstalled and replaced with compatible versions. At this point, it may be best to back up your data and wipe the drive - and do a clean install of Windows 2000.

You need to load up the Compaq support page for that model Presario - and if there are no Windows 2000 drivers available, that model is not supported and any upgrade is taken at your own risk.
