Single user on welcome screen

Ive just had to reconfigure my hard drive and re-install xp home...

...after sorting much stuff out, Ive noticed that when i switch on my pc, when it gets ot the welcome screen it stops, making me have to click my user icon, same if the screensaver comes on.

But, I only have one user account on this PC, and this is un-nessasary, let alone annoying as previously it didnt happen.

Can anyone tell me how to make it stop doing it?

thanks.

Go to Start>Run, type in (or copy and paste from here): control userpasswords2 (note the space after "control"), click OK.

See what other accounts are listed in the User Accounts window. If there's something there that looks like "ASP net" or something similar, it means you downloaded the "NET Framework" update. If it’s there, close the User Accounts window and since at this time NET Framework is really only of use to software developers, go into Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs and uninstall it. Then when you re-open the User Accounts window, it should be gone and XP should logon to your single account without doing anything further.

However, if there’s nothing listed in the User Accounts window but your account, the Guest account and “Administrator,” uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer," click OK.

In the box that opens, enter the account name you want to log into automatically and if there's no password for that account, leave the password field blank, click OK.

That should do it.

This isn't upto date : http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;299777
but it seems to be your problem after the new install and rearranging the user account.
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen for the fix.
