outlook express wont run XP home

I cannot run outlook express , when i try to open a message comes up stating: cannot be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialised OE may not be installed correctly.
Is there anything i can do without a complete reformat?

You do not need a complete reformat, the issue seems to be a damaged folders.dbx file.

Check these KB articles and try their solutions:

Use the new account and import the dbx files and the wab from the old account, then delete the old account.

Thanks glc, can you please explain or point me in the right direction how to import dbx & wab files and what are they as I am still relatively new to computing and do not want to make the situation worse.

The .wab file is your address book. The .dbx files are all your mail folders (inbox, sent items, deleted items, etc.).

Dbx files are "hidden" files and must be "un-hidden" in order for search to find them.

Open a folder...My Computer will do...go to Tools>Folders Options>View tab and check "Show hidden files and folders," click OK. Search should then be able to find the dbx files.
