Buy XP home at auction or newegg?
I already boght all my hardware except peripherals and dvd/cd drives. So i can't get the $89 dollar deal.
I tried emailing newegg about using my motherboard purchase from a week ago for it but i doubt that will work. anyone have some suggestions? is it ok to buy XP from an auction,(used) that doesn't make any difference does it, as long as they include the COA, right? You can try to order it from newegg, just to see if the order will go through(I bet it will).
If it doesnt go through, just add a 2 dollar cable or something to the order. As far as getting it from an auction, I would make sure its sealed, and check the sellers feedback. Also make sure you know the shipping cost. I remember when I was shopping for it, a seller was charging $18.50 to ship it

Agree with Confused.
I once used a $2.50 order of case decals as the requirement hardware so your optical drives or peripherals will do just fine. Newegg is very reasonable about it. |

I get people all the time hwo want me to re-load the OS and if they have a license fine if not I tell them to get one. Several people recently have told me they bought licenses cheap at www.9software.com. Ive never dealt with them personally but a few of my customers are satisfied with them

If you have any problems with newegg, zipzoomfly adds in a free cable with a purchase of XP. The cable is just one of thoose that goes from a cd drive to soundcard. Its free and fufills the OEM requirement. You can do that if you have any trouble with neweg..
EDIT nevermind i went to zipzoomfly and they don't do this. It either means they got in trouble with microsoft, or i imagined the whole thing. Last edited by colecifer; 04-23-2004 at 08:40 PM. |

I looked at zipzoom, and it said they added a random piece of hardware to the order....I just didn't trust what they said. I assumed I'd get charged $40 extra bucks or something for a cable. (and they make sure to say the sale is non-refundable about 40 times....so I was a little unsure about them.)
