freecell image errors

hi
my mom loves to play freecell when she has to write a report and wants to escapr the writersblock.
unfortunaltaly lately freecell has been acting up.
the markings for placing cards have disappreaded . when you move cards there and back again you get immage errors (see screenshot).
also when i try to open the "options" menu the freecell acts like there is an options windos but that window is nowhere to be seen.
i've tryed deinstalling and reinstalling this feature, but that did not help. does aanybody have anny idea about what I could do about this???
the pc is running win98 and has no other problems. i tryed regclean and adaware other cardgames (like solitaire) seems to be working just fine

When you uninstalled & reinstalled it, did you use Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs/Setup and remove the Games selections from the Accessories tab?

If you didn't use this method, try it & see if it helps. I like to reboot between the uninstall and the reinstall - just to simplify things.

I've seen some mention of trouble that some Win98 users have had with FreeCell after upgrading their IE to IE6. I can't confirm if there is a definite connection - haven't seen a surefire fix over at the Microsoft site yet. If the uninstall/reboot/reinstall method doesn't help, and it turns out that your mom recently upgraded to IE6, you can try reverting to IE 5.5 or IE 5.0 & see try the uninstall/reinstall again & see if it's OK then. (she can revert through Add-Remove in the Control Panel)

My other guess would be that she might've recently upgraded her Direct X or video drivers?

Let us know how it comes out, if you can . . .
. . . Gary
