can't upgrade to XP

I am trying to upgrade from windows ME to XP on a new build but XP dosen't detect my hard drive. It just gives me a stop error after refusing to detect the drive.

specs:
amd athlon xp 2000+
gigabyte motherboard
256mb ddr ram
powercolor radeon 9200se
lg dvdrom
bay mount speakers
generic case
seagate 80gb 7200rpm 8mb cache serial ata

Yeah, 2000 and XP are unfortunately picky there. They want the drivers for Serial ATA on a floppy only.
The drivers should be on the motherboard CD. Gotta need to copy the over to a floppy, boot from the XP CD, hit F6 as soon as Setup starts, and then later you will be able to choose the drivers from the floppy.
