Mouse frozed after the Windows started.

The mouse froze at the center of the desktop windows just after the Windows startup. it is unvailable to install a windows-version antivirus software when this happens, isn't it?
What I could do is using a MS-DOS version antivirus software to clean up the viruses after booting the machine from the floppy diskette, will this the only method that work? I haven't installed any antivirus software on the Windows XP yet.

Thanks!

ffish,

I may be misunderstanding your problem...but are you saying that Windows loads but you can't utilize your mouse?

IF that is the case, then is your keyboard functional? If so, can you not navigate your system with your keyboard?

Are you sure your mouse is well pluged in? If it is try a other one, if your sure its not a problem with the mouse after then you can use your keyboard like livewire said.
just in case you dont know...
TAB=next item( button,etc..)
shift-tab=previous item
You should be able to install a antivirus with your keyboard.

I can use the keyboard to navigate, but mouse froze as the the desktop showed on the screen. there are some viruses detected by some outdated antivirus software, but the antivirus software couldn't delete them.

A DOS-based antivirus generally can't make sense of NTFS - if you are FAT32 it should work.

Is this a new build? I had XP lock up once after a repair because it didn't like my MX700 duo without the right drivers. Are you using just a plain-jane optical or standard mouse?
