Windows 2000 Server Terminal Services Printing

A on going issue I have with Terminal Services is the ability to print from it in remote locations.

I currentaly have a client connecting to my server using Terminal Services that can not print. I have installed the correct drivers on my server for his printer.

Everytime he connects the server see's his printer and installs it but he can't print to it. Also when he logs off the terminal his printer does not delete. I have to go in and manually delete.

His printer is a lexmark z22. Just a standard Inket, no scanner or fax or anything like that.

I have got it to print once using printer driver mapping but once he logs off his session number changes when he logs back in. So mapping it does me no good.

No, The Lexmark is connected directaly to the machine that is connecting via lpt1.

In my office we have no problems printing to laser printers and most inkjets when they are either directaly connected or connected via a Sharing in Windows XP or 2000. No print server needed.

you might want to at least think about trying this,

pick up a small print server that connects to the back of the printer and uses a cat-5 cable to the switch

I have found that doing it this way is better and less problems.
you might try it.

Sorry, I'm a little confused, but if it is a local printer to his machine than why are you having it go through the server?

The Terminal Server he is connecting to to run a specfic program is located off site.

His printer is connected locally.

Okay, thanks. I really can't help much except to say that at work we have similar problems with local printers and I would recommend Bailey's method for printing if possible. Good Luck!
