cant get icon out of taskbar

I have a small icon next to the clock that says "safely remove hardware." Nothing happens if I right click, and when I left click it says "select the device you want to unplug or eject" and it shows my dvd-rom in the box. Its not causing any problems, I just want to get rid of the icon. I ran msconfig to stop it from starting up but didnt see anything in there relating to it.

IBM A21m Laptop
WinXP

Thanks

Try doing, Start>Settings>Taskbar and start menu, and then see what you can do to stop it from showing up on there. Post back with the results.

sounds like a program from roxio or easy cd creator or something for reading a RW media volume. Do you have any of these type software installed?
