fatal (ughhhh) error

Im working on a 2.4 gig dell that starts to boot >goes splash screen>then blue screen:
STOP: c000021a (fatal system error)
The windows log on process system terminated unexpectly with a status of 0x0000005 ( 0x00000000 0x00000000
The system has been shut down. According to Microsoft/Dell
http://support.microsoft.com/default...330303&sd=dell it is a problem with a hotfix and a patch.

Im not to sure if this is the fix,or how to accomplish it..this thing wont boot at all...
I tried the repair function ... no help.
Any ideas?

error message is the same, but i don't know if those are your symptoms. might be worth looking at, though.

sorry, didn't realize they were the same. guess i should have looked more closely. are you trying to connect to a domain (do the symptoms seem consistent with the problem you are having)

have you tried contacting microsoft for the fix. never tried that myself, but it might be worth a shot in this case

nope none. i kept looking around, but i couldn't find any for xp. you might just have to format. if the stuff is valuable enuf to keep, you could try taking it to a local shop (?). just a suggestion. i don't have anything other than that, sorry
