Please help ASAP
I am getting a problem and need help. This is what it says exactly.
Cannot find a device file that may be neede to run Windows or a Windows application. The windows registry or system.ini file refers to this device file, but the device file no longer exists. If you deleted this file on purplose, try uninstalling the associated application using its uninstall or steup program. If you still want to use the application associated with this devidefile, try reinstalling that apllication to replace the missing file. C:Progra~1\symantec\symevnt.386 Press a key to continue What I did was uninstall this program, because I am fixing the laptop for someone and I am afraid that this will show up and who knows what will happen. What is a way to fix this? |

go to add/remove programs and see if you have liveupdate for symantec and liveregistration. if you do you should remove them also. This might fix the error message too.

Run Regedit and browse to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shared DLLs and also to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD In both cases, look for a reference to SYMEVNT.sys and delete it. |
