Corrupt File

My friend is running WinMe and every time she starts her computer she gets an error message saying that the file skosd.dll is corrupt and to reinstall it.
I tried doing a google search for it, and came up with nothing.
I don't know what program it's attached to.
any help would be appreciated.

BTW, she's running an older model gateway.

I don't know if you been to the Microsoft site, but it gives a list of all the .dll files that are installed for each Microsoft product. The only problem is you can't do a specific search, you have to go 1 page at a time.

I do believe the driver you are refering to has to do with the keyboard on the Gateway. You may want to if you can to reinstall the drivers for the keyboard. You notice in the list below it is refering to the driver you need.

I think viperpa33s is right.
I went to msconfig and started removing things from the startup list to narrow it down.
The error goes away when I deselect the keyboard utility.
Hopefully she's got the disk for it.

You don't even need the keyboard drivers to use it as a standard keyboard - all the driver does is enable the extra keys.

The Microsoft site provides a list and information for each .dll that comes with a Microsoft product. It's just used as a reference if you need more information on a particular .dll file or if that .dll is for a Microsoft product. It's a good starting point in any research of tracking down a computer problem.

Hey, fellas, your not listening to glc. He's right. A keyboard doesn't need drivers. As glc said, all a driver does for the keyboard is enable the EXTRA keys. 99% of the time most people don't even use the extra keys. I used to have an HP Internet keyboard with lots of extra keys. Bet you can't guess how many of the extra keys I used. Correct, none. thorlo6

Right.. the error message was more of a hassle because she didn't use the extra keys.. but I just wanted to make it go back to normal for her. I was able to get rid of the error message by disabling the keyboard program in the startup menu, but I went ahead and installed the drivers again in case she wants to use the extra keys some time in the future.
