REM message at boot up
My friend had M E installed on his computer and aske me to reinstall his original win 98se for him. I formatted the hard drive and installed 98se. At boot up I got a message on screen "vnetbios.vxd, press any key to continue." I went to control panel network and removed the dial up adapter etc and re booted the comp and re added the network stuff again.
That fixed up the vnetbios message I got before, but I see this message now on the screen during boot-up "REM By windows network- C Windows Net Start" and then continues with the usual stuff and proceeds to load windows with no problem. Should I just ignore this message or does it mean something is wrong. If nothing is wrong how do I get rid of this message appearing during boot up.

Look in the autoexec.bat file and remove that line, although REM means it is harmless, just put there so it will appear for informational purposes..

Go to MSDOS prompt and I would first just use type autoexec.bat to see if that is indeed where it is at, then if it's in there you use edit autoexec.bat to get into be able to remove that line..

Better:
Run > type sysedit and hit Enter There you can edit Window's system files, autoexec.bat and config.sys included.
