at the blue screen point what is the error code it is giving you?

might be a ram issue.

do you have any spare ram sticks around? like from another comp you can throw in there temp.

and how much ram is on this rig?

It is not a "blue screen of death" issue if that is walk you are referring to. At the problem I have control over the mouse and can hit ctrl-alt-del to get my task manager, porcess, etc. but that is it. The background is windows default blue.

To answer your Q. It has 2 sticks of 256 SDRAM PC133. I am typing this in SAFE mode which works fine. I am thinking it is a service or driver or something that is trying to load that is not. Maybe a corrupt system file or a Virus. Im trying evey thing I know but nothing is working here.......frustrating. Probably something real simple......

yup my initial guess was right.

go into safe mode and download a program called stinger. its a stand alone virus remover. make sure no other anti-viruses are running. it can be found at

http://vil.nai.com/vil/averttools.asp

great free utility once you know oyu have infections.

Dude, you are the freaking man. Ran in in safe mode, found and deleated several viruses, booted normal and then ran Housecall free online virus scanner. None of the online scans helped prior to Stinger nor would any of my installed scanners even run. She is running like a champ free of viruses. I love you bro (in a thank you kind of way).
