Question Windows XP Home addition will not boot.

I have a hp pavilion 7915 with 2 sticks of 256 SDRAM and running on Windows XP Home version. I was printing a picture from file when the screen went back with an error message that said "WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM is missing or corrupted. When I try to reboot, it shows the HP blue screen and then defaults to the black screen with the error message. I have tried to install original setup CD-ROM and the recovery CD but nothing happens. The computer will not boot beyond this point and as such does not recognise any CD-Rom or disk. Any suggestions?

Did you set your BIOS to make the CDROM the first boot device? Then restart with the restore CD in the drive.

Have you tried booting to safe mode?
