In BIOS set boot order with CD as first boot device if it is a XP CD and not a recovery CD. XP will have the option to partition and format the drive for you. (Note: If upgrade CD you will need a qualifying OS on CD to verify with).
If you created more than one partition in initial step you can format the other partitions after XP is up and running by; Start > right click My Computer > select Disk Management > select drive and right click > choose Format. Chas
