Memory problems please help

I recently built a computer, well my friend did most of the work he knows alot more then me. Any way ive been getting random crashes this blue screen with white text comes up saying IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and sometimes PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA im using an Asus k8v SE and i think its a problem with the memory settings even my friend cant figure out what to do. I tryed starting up with 1 stick and in differnt slots and now when it loads the windows setup process i get a window saying not enough virtual memory and it restarts. any idea what i could do?

Have you tried installing with only the basic hardware, hdd, motherboard, proc, vidcard, memory, and cd-rom?
Also go into your bios and load the fail-safe or default settings, the name varies from bios to bios.

when you turn on the computer hold down the delete button untill you get to a blue/gray looking menu.

Find out what the timings are on the ram you bought.

Change your bios to match the timings of the ram you bought.

If it still crashes, try a different stick.

Probably a good move. You may want to review the manual for your motherboard as it only supports single sided ram in a few configurations. The Corsair Ram may well be 2 sided. Also for very little extra cash you can bump that up to some faster Ram. Make note of the full set of timings when you decide on the new Ram so you can be 100% positive of what the Bios timings should be set at.
