Xp Boot.ini Help

Hello. I tried posting earlier and I am new at this and even more I am not sure the question posted. I am in need of help in regards to Windows XP. My computer was shutdown incorrectly by another user. When rebooting the sys. now, I am getting the error message: "Invalid boot.ini file". Will I need the CD to reinstall the missing file or can I use the floppy boot disks downloaded from the vendor site?

Thanks

you can use the xp cd to do a install repaire.
do not go into the repaire console
do a normal install then chose repaire.

that should correct the problem.

read the instructions carefully as you go.

boot from the cdrome drive with the xp cd in the drive.
